Getting The Car - love at the first sight.
hi all..
hmm... let's see, i dont know where to start and what to say but basically this blog is about my old car. Its a 1961 Volvo Amazon and the transformation it is undergoing right now.
For starters, let me say something about this car. It is the 5th car i own. However, this car is very special to me. Why? because it should have been the 1st one i owned. I've fallen in love with it long before i graduated (and i graduated from my college in 1998).
Unfortunately at the time i approach the owner, i was short on cash. The owner (my neighbour) asked for RM6K (cash, of course). At that time (1999, i guess), there was hardly any value on this model. Nowadays, the market price of a good & running amazon is within the range of RM15K - RM22K. Stll, i was just started working so RM6K was kinda too much for me. Hehe..
A few years after that (2004, i believe) i noticed that the owner has stopped using this car for quite sometime. When i asked him, he told me that he has overlooked the renewal of the car's road tax for over 12 months and therefore, he was facing problems. On top of that, a RTD officer who promised to help him "settle" his problem has lost the Registration Card of the car. Wahlauuweh... haha
Only then i found out that the car was still under the original owner's name (hence, the problem). My neighbour has been using this car for about 13 years. He bought this car from another person (i believe the 2nd owner) just with a copy of Registration Card & Photocopy of the 1st owner IC. And he has no knowledge the whereabout of the 1st owner.
After a short negotiation, he agree to sell the car to me at RM800 ONLY (provided the would be no refund, no matter what). I agreed & bought the car. So the car changed hands with the registered owner's status was still unknown to me.
...will sambung later.... hehe
